- What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not being a doctor? Running, playing board games with my family, and watching my kids play sports
- Do you have a pet? Not yet! We are all trying to convince Dad that we need a dog!
- When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? If you asked me before I was 10 years old, I wanted to be a waitress at El Chico, a local Mexican restaurant. After having my braces removed as an adolescent, I knew this was something I would love to do for other people and thankfully it stuck!
Dr. Horton Li
Pediatric Dentist at the Mt. Juliet office
Dr. Horton Li’s journey to becoming a pediatric dentist is as inspiring as it is unique. Originally from Xi’an, China, he moved to South Florida at just 16 years old, traveling alone on a scholarship in pursuit of greater opportunities. With determination and a sense of adventure, he pursued his education, attending college and dental school in Kentucky before making Tennessee his home.
After practicing general dentistry in the Nashville area for several years, Dr. Li realized that his true passion was working with kids. With his naturally playful personality and kid-at-heart energy, he found joy in making dental visits fun rather than scary. So, he took a leap, went back to residency, and became a board-certified pediatric dentist. Now, his days are filled with silly jokes, high-fives, and teaching kids that the dentist’s office isn’t a place to fear—but a place to laugh, learn, and maybe even a TikTok dance with the kids in the chair.
Dr. Li believes that a great pediatric dentist is not only a skilled clinician but also an educator and advocate for children’s health. He takes pride in helping families understand the importance of early dental care and preventive practices, ensuring that every child he treats receives the highest level of care. When he’s not goofing around at work, Dr. Li enjoys life in Nashville with his wife, his daughter, and their beloved rescued bichon Frise, Russell. He loves cooking, traveling, and whipping up creative cocktails for friends (adults only, of course!). And in case you were wondering—yes, he once won a spoonbread eating contest in Kentucky during his college days. Dr. Li’s combination of expertise, humor, and heart makes him a beloved part of the Nashville community. His mission? To keep kids smiling—both in the dental chair and beyond.

- What’s your favorite thing to do when not being a doctor? I love traveling to different parts of the world with my family. It’s a great way to explore and appreciate new cultures and create lasting memories together. I also enjoy going on dental mission trips to help kids in need, providing care and making a positive impact in communities both in the USA and abroad.
- Do you have a pet? Yes! I have a rescued bichon frise named Russell. He’s not just a pet—he’s a true hero who has saved our lives a few times. His loyalty and keen instincts have made him an irreplaceable member of our family, and we’re so grateful to have him around.
- When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? When I was a kid, I wanted to become an international businessman. I was fascinated by the idea of traveling the world and working across different cultures, which is why I’m so grateful to have found a career that allows me to travel for mission trips while also making a meaningful difference in children’s lives.
