This season, giving to others less fortunate than ourselves is in order. And it’s all made very easy with the Light the World Giving Machines located in the lobby of 231 Public Square in Franklin Dec. 1 – 10. The lobby is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for vending meal donations, personal care items — even goats or chickens — to those in need locally and around the world. Items you can select range in price from $4 – $500.
In previous years, the machines were in Nashville and Cool Springs. They raised more than $300,000 for the featured charities. One hundred percent of the donations go to represented charities. The maintenance of the machines is through a sponsorship with Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the global “Light the World” campaign.
For five years, Giving Machines in seven different countries have raised more than $22 million for local and international charities. This year, local charities represented include Bridges Domestic Violence Center, in addition to Habitat for Humanity Williamson – Maury. The American Red Cross is one of the international options providing relief and support to those in crisis.
