Historic Collinsville Pioneer Settlement in rural Montgomery County has announced special events for the month of May, including Planting Day and Mom’s Day Out.
Planting Day
Saturday, May 6 | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Historic Collinsville welcomes green thumbs to assist with planting a 19th century kitchen garden and a medicinal herb garden, along with beautiful blooming flowers throughout the property. Planting begins at 10 a.m. and will continue until the projects are complete or the settlement closes at 4 p.m. Planting Project Volunteers receive free admission. Regular admission for all other guests is $8 per adult, $4 per child ages 6-12, and ages 0-5 are free.
Mom’s Day Out
Saturday, May 13 | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Historic Collinsville is celebrating all things “mom” — starting with free admission for moms to kick off the Mother’s Day Weekend! Enjoy 19th century-style activities throughout the day. Taste the past with food samples, try your hand at needle work, watch a unique show-of-fashion as period clothing is modeled and listen to the laughter! Free admission for moms. Special event admission for all other guests is $10 per adult, $5 per child ages 6-12, and ages 0-5 are free.
Visiting Collinsville gives guests the opportunity for a self-paced, self-guided stroll through a re-creation of the past with an audio tour. The 40-acre, open-air property showcases pioneer life from 1840-1900 with 16 authentically furnished buildings. See the earliest “first home” to the expansive Dogtrot House, a tobacco barn, smokehouse, church/schoolhouse, wildlife center, loom house, cobbler’s shop, teacher’s home and more. Picnic tables are placed throughout the property and a covered pavilion with tables and restrooms is also on site. A visitor center greets guests and offers period souvenirs.
