Kid Adventures: Sailing Classes!

Sailing is a great skill for a kid to have. Local classes start up soon! Register now.

Sign your child up for a lifelong love of water skills with a sailing class this summer! Kids as young as 7 can participate in sailing camps offered on Old Hickory Lake or Percy Priest Lake. Camps introduce kids to sailing and racing while providing advanced knowledge in a safe, fun environment. Camps are taught by knowledgeable US Sailing counselors. What to know:

Old Hickory Lake

Weekly camps (see dates below) 
Harbor Island Yacht Club
300 Harbor Drive, Old Hickory
Camp is offered at Harbor Island Yacht Club. Hosted by the Nashville Sailing Foundation, camps are available June 5-9; 12-16; 19-23; or 26-30. Register for one or more weeks for $350 a week. Campers check in daily at 8:45 a.m.; pick up is 4:15 p.m. Extended care is available. All campers are required to wear life jackets and bring lunch and water each day.

Percy Priest Lake

Nashville Sail Camp
Single Day  and Week-long camps (see dates below)

This learn-to-sail camp is offered through Leadership Academy, (615-856-4772) for ages 8 and older. Kids will learn boating safety, points of sail, basic levels of sailing and more. Along with sailing, kids will learn problem solving and creative thinking. Campers must be comfortable in boats and have strong swimming skills. All campers are required to wear life jackets and bring lunch and water each day.
    Single day camps: Saturdays 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. ($85) on June 24 and July 8, 15 or 22.
    Weeklong day camps: Mon – Fri, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. ($335). Extended care is available. Available weeks: June 19-23 and July 10-14. Other weeks are sold out.
