Where Every Family Matters

Kona Ice Day & More Summer Fun at the SOAC

Plus, SOAC's featured exhibit includes a hovercraft chair, pulleys, levers, hydraulics and more!

Attention, Smyrna families! Who’s ready to “chill” at the Smyrna Outdoor Adventure Center (SOAC) throughout the summer?

First, this Friday, July 14, SOAC visitors can enjoy free shaved ice for Kona Ice Day (2 p.m. to 4 p.m. only), as well as free fiber-splicing demonstrations sponsored by United Communications (from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). The featured exhibit will be an additional charge of $3/person. All ages are welcome.

“From Here to There” Featured Exhibit

MTE sponsors “From Here to There,” a hands-on, interactive exhibit currently on display at the SOAC through Sept. 3.

Children can explore the exciting world of movement on land, sea and air through exhibit stations including a hovercraft chair, an interactive canal lock system, pneumatic air tubes, pulleys, levers and hydraulics. The “From Here to There” exhibit and a 40-minute climb time are included with SOAC admission.

The SOAC is part of the Smyrna Parks and Recreation Department and is located at 100 Sam Ridley Parkway E. in Smyrna. Programmers specialize in developing and presenting a variety of environmental education, recreational and outreach programs for all ages.

The SOAC is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. SOAC admission is $7 per adult (ages 13-54), $4 (ages 55+) and $5 per child (ages 2 – 12); children younger than 2 are free.

More information about admission is available at SmyrnaOutdoorAdventureCenter.org or by calling 615-459-9710.
