Your teen can make a difference this year. Sign ’em up for the American Red Cross Lifeguard Class or the American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Class this month at Sports*Com.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Class
Equip them with the skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to emergencies in the water in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Class. Prerequisites include a 500-yard swim and 20-yard brick retrieval. Upon passing, candidates are certified in lifeguarding and first aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer and oxygen administration. Open to ages 15 and older and registration is required.
American Red Cross Instructor Class
Your older teen (ages 17+) can do even more with a certification in the American Red Cross Instructor Class. However, they must be certified at an American Red Cross Lifeguard. Teens can learn how they can share their lifeguard skills and knowledge to those wanting to become certified lifeguards.
Dates for both classes are Jan. 11 – 14 or Feb. 8 – March 1. Hours vary by date. Cost is $175. Sports*Com is located at 2310 Memorial Blvd., Murfreesboro. Ready to sign your child up? Contact Cody Saffel at 615-895-5040 or csaffel@murfreesborotn.gov.
