Little Engine Playhouse Tour

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library 2019 theatrical tour opens Jan. 15 at Nashville Public Library.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library brings children's book to life on stage by way of The Little Engine Playhouse (a part of Dollywood Entertainment). The new Playhouse Tour features stops at familiar children's venues in Middle and East Tennessee. The 2019 tour will also include new areas in Memphis, Arkansas, South Carolina and Ontario, Canada. It all kicks off right here in Music City on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Nashville Public Library.

Pint-sized audiences can enjoy the theatrical adaptation of Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon, based on the book by Patty Lovell with illustrations by David Catrow.

AN ANTI-BULLYING MESSAGE

Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon delivers a positive, anti-bullying messages. When Molly Lou starts a new school, school bully Ronald Durkin makes fun of her on her very first day. He mocks her buck teeth, clumsiness and small frame. With her grandmother's advice, Molly Lou shows Ronald how her perceived flaws are really her talents. The story shows children a good example of overcoming obstacles and self-acceptance.

"The anti-bullying message in this book is so important in today's world," says Natacha Hylton, manager of Dollywood Entertainment. "We all felt like this was a great time to expand the tour, especially with the subject matter of the selected book," she adds.
