“Readers to Leaders” is the theme of WCLF’s 2018 Love Our Libraries event. On Thursday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m., the foundation seeks to raise $40,000 for library improvements. The funds are to help create more excitement in the children’s sections at each of the six Williamson County Library System’s branches (Bethesda, College Grove, Fairview, Franklin, Leipers Fork and Nolensville). AWE Learning Early Literacy Stations additions to the libraries help build literacy skills, improve school readiness and prepare ages 2 – 8 for curriculum. The AWE Learning AfterSchool Edge homework assistance for ages 6 – 12 is great for struggling kids or those that just need a little help. In addition, new whimsical murals will be added to the children’s departments to help inspire the magic of reading.
The fundraising event features a reception, silent and live auctions, dinner and a short program. It takes place at the Williamson County Enrichment Center (110 Everbright Ave., Franklin). Cost is $50. Purchase tickets online at loveourlibraries.com.
