Where Every Family Matters

Meet FluMist, the First At-Home, Needle-Free Vaccine

What kid doesn't hate needles? That's why the at-home FluMist may be right for your family.

As October approaches, don’t let stress, or plain, old hassle keep you from protecting your family from the flu. Because there’s good news: AstraZeneca just launched FluMist, the first at-home nasal flu vaccine. No appointments. No needles. Just order online at FluMist.com, and it’s delivered straight to your door.

Why FluMist is a Game-Changer for Parents

  • No needles – It’s a simple nasal spray, which can be a huge relief for kids (and needle-shy adults).

  • Do it at home – Skip the doctor’s office and protect your family when it’s convenient for you.

  • Kid-approved – FluMist is approved for most healthy people ages 2–49. (Not for kids under 2.)

How It Works

Once your package arrives, you’ll:

  1. Refrigerate the vaccine until you’re ready to use it.

  2. Use a simple app (called tiveTag) to confirm it stayed at the right temperature during shipping.

  3. Administer it in just seconds:

    • Remove the gray cap (keep the dose divider in place).

    • Spray into one nostril.

    • Remove the dose divider.

    • Spray into the other nostril.

That’s it. No fuss. Just spray, spray, done. Protection kicks in about two weeks later, just like the flu shot.

Is It Effective?

Yes. FluMist has been around for about 20 years and is backed by strong safety and effectiveness data. It’s the same vaccine you’d get at your doctor’s office — just now, you can give it at home. Per the CDC, FluMist is just as effective as the injectable version for healthy people aged 2–49. (It’s not recommended for kids under 2, adults over 49, or those with certain health conditions — always check with your doctor if you’re unsure.)

Any Side Effects?

The most common ones are mild and flu-like — a runny nose, sore throat, or mild fever. No injection site pain, obviously.

Is It Covered by Insurance?

Often, yes! If your plan covers the flu shot, it likely covers FluMist, too. There may be a small consultation or shipping fee.
