Our family made the drive out to Lebanon over the weekend to get into the autumnal spirit at Mrs. B’s Pumpkin Patch. Mrs. B’s is conveniently located right on Murfreesboro Road, not far off the interstate. Rather than a traditional “pumpkin patch,” it has a feel akin to a fun roadside attraction with fall-themed games and activities.
After easily finding parking, we entered through Mrs. B’s Sweet Shop Concession Stand, a small building with toys, snacks, drinks and homemade baked goods for sale. We were greeted by Mrs. B herself, who, along with her staff, were very friendly and welcoming throughout our visit.
PUMPKINS!
A free pumpkin is included with admission for each child, too! Pumpkins are displayed throughout the property, and additional pumpkins are available for purchase. Be aware that your child will not actually be picking a pumpkin from a patch, but rather from the displays.
ACTIVITIES
There are a wide variety of activities for kids at Mrs. B’s. Our boys headed straight up the hill to check out the slide and to climb on the old-fashioned fire truck. Next to the fire truck, Everett (age 7), found his favorite attraction: two large slingshots for flinging small pumpkins at targets. He also very much enjoyed eating one of Mrs. B’s brownies, which he claimed “tasted like heaven,” while listening to the live music.
Our 3-year-old, Ames, enjoyed painting his pumpkin with the help of a kind employee. He also had fun walking through a storage unit that had been converted into a “Haunted House.” Jumping on the inflatables would normally have been a hit with our boys, but during this visit the unseasonably hot temperatures kept us from taking advantage of this and some other attractions.
Other activities include slides; inflatables; petting zoo with goats, chickens, rabbits, pig, and miniature pony; small maze; haunted house; wooden cow that can be milked; checkers table; water table to race rubber ducks; kiddie pools with magnetic fish and fishing poles; painting easels; music and dance floor; sandbox with digging toys; corn box for digging; firetruck; and inflatable horses to bounce-race; yard games; photo opportunities. Most activities are free with paid admission. However, the pumpkin sling-shot costs an additional $1 per two pumpkins and face painting is $3 – $6. Additional pumpkins and gourds are also for sale.
SHOPPING
All About Holidays Party Store is adjacent to the Pumpkin Patch and offers holiday decorations of all kinds (not just Halloween). They do have an extensive Halloween selection should you decide to pick up costumes as part of your outing. Steer away from the back of the store with littles who may be afraid of scarier Halloween décor. If you're hungry, be sure to visit Mrs. B’s Sweet Shop Concession Stand. You'll find baked goods, chips, candy, popcorn, beverages (as well as a selection of toys) available for purchase. The hassle-free parking and manageable size make Mrs. B’s Pumpkin Patch an easy fall outing for local families — parking is also free. If you decide to visit, you may want to dress your little ones in seasonal attire as there are many photo opportunities around the Pumpkin Patch.
