When life’s got you down, the Flying Vikings are there to raise you UP! Children ages 6 – 18 with special needs or any chronic illness have the chance to soar with the Flying Vikings during the FREE Murfreesboro Fly Day with the assistance of the MTSU School of Aviation. The Flying Vikings is a 501 c-3 non-profit with a special mission. Not only that, but they also get to be the pilot of that plane as they take the controls into their own hands during a 15-minute flight. This is a great opportunity for children with cancer, leukemia, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy — just to name a few — to experience and once-in-a-lifetime thrill. After the flight, the fun continues on the ground with a presentation of a flight certificate, arts and crafts, face painting and more.
This marks the first year the Flying Vikings makes its way to Murfreesboro, and they hope to make it an annual event. Fly Day takes place at the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport (1930 Memorial Blvd., Murfreesboro) on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Spots are expected to fill up very quickly, so register your child as soon as possible!
E-mail flyinglittlevikings@yahoo.com with the following information: phone and e-mail address (to notify you if your child has made the fly list or of any weather-related cancellations), your child’s name and location (state that it’s the Murfreesboro Fly Day, as this is a traveling opportunity and they visit many cities).
