Downtown Murfreesboro is set to unveil the USA 250 Mural Mosaic on Friday, July 3 in the grassy area beside Shacklett’s Photography.
The unveiling starts at 6 p.m., then stroll over to Main Street Murfreesboro’s Friday Night Live on the Public Square, where Entice will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The mural, titled The Patriot’s Flag, is an 8‑by‑16‑foot outdoor installation composed of 650 individually hand‑painted tiles. What makes it special isn’t just its size or its patriotic theme — it’s the sheer number of local hands that helped bring it to life. Children, veterans, seniors, families, volunteers, and civic partners all contributed tiles throughout the spring, turning a national milestone into a deeply local expression of pride.
Once installed on the historic Shacklett’s Photography building at 105 South Church Street, the mural will face the open green space across from the Rutherford County Historic Courthouse.
The project comes together through a partnership between Main Street Murfreesboro, the City of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation, Murfreesboro Public Libraries, Rutherford County Government and other community groups. Mural Mosaic supplied the framework, while local hubs hosted painting sessions that brought people together tile by tile.
