Music City Kids Triathlon June 11

Kids can get moving with some healthy competition among their peers.

Kids ages 6 – 18 can get moving and experience the thrill of healthy competition during the Second Annual Music City Kids Triathlon.

It takes place Sunday, June 11 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. The Children’s Hospital at Centennial and Pediatrix Medical Group present the triathlon. Metro Parks and AERO host the race.

Kids will be put in different age divisions for the race: ages 6 – 7 (Junior), 8 – 10 (Intermediate) and 11 – 18 (Senior). The triathlon begins with swimming at Centennial Sportsplex. Next is a closed-course biking route around TriStar Centennial Medical Center’s campus. Finally, the running portion takes place at Centennial Park.

MUSIC CITY KIDS TRIATHLON DIVISIONS

Each age division has different distances within the three race components:

Junior (ages 6 – 7)
50 yard swim, 2.6 mile bike, .75 mile run

Intermediate (ages 8 – 10)
100 meter swim, 2.6 mile bike, .75 mile run

Senior (ages 11 – 18)
200 meter swim, 6 mile bike, 1.25 mile run

Registration is open to 500 kids, and the deadline to sign up is Friday, June 9; cost is $55. A free clinic for inexperienced triathletes takes place at Centennial Sportsplex on Saturday, June 10 from 2 – 4 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
