Kids can dig into fun and accomplishment by participating in the inaugural Music City Kids Triathlon on Sunday, June 19.
The Children’s Hospital at TriStar Centennial presents the event with non-profit youth triathlon team AERO. It’s open to kids ages 6 – 18 with different expectations for each age group:
Beginner (ages 6 – 7)
50 yard swim, 2.4 mile bike, one-half mile run
Intermediate (ages 8 – 10)
100 meter swim, 2.4 mile bike, one-half mile run
Senior (ages 11 – 18)
200 meter swim, six mile bike, one mile run
Music City Kids Triathlon components take place at Centennial Sportsplex (swim), TriStar Centennial Campus (bike) and Centennial Park (run). The distances are set so most children can complete the race without dedicated training.
There is a free pre-race clinic for kids participating in their first triathlon on Saturday, June 11 from 2 – 4 p.m. Register in advance at the website.
Registration fee through Friday, June 10 is $45; from June 11 – 18 it’s $55. To register for the Music City Kids Triathlon and the free pre-race clinic, visit musiccitykidstri.com.
