Visitors to the Nashville Zoo have some new faces to spot in Leopard Forest! The zoo recently introduced three Schmidt’s guenons, also known as Schmidt’s red-tailed monkeys, to the habitat shared with the black-and-white colobus monkeys.
The colorful primates, native to Central Africa, are known for their bright red tails and distinctive facial features.
The new additions include father Ahnmom, known as Ahni, mother Lulu and their daughter Khari.
Zoo officials say guests can now watch the family leap through the trees and forage for fruits, leaves, flowers and insects throughout the habitat.
Schmidt’s guenons are also known for their cheek pouches, which allow them to store food for later and can hold nearly as much as their stomachs.
