Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t get out with the family for some fresh air! Taking a walk along the trails in Murfreesboro is a great way to get in some exercise and enjoy mother nature. You can do that any day of the week at any of the paved trails from the Murfreesboro Greenway System. There are trailheads placed throughout the city offering parking, water fountains and even some playgrounds. We are excited to share that the newest trail opened yesterday!
On the north side of Murfreesboro the new 1.34-mile section of the Greenway System, the Central Valley Trailhead located on Central Valley Road near Walter Hill Dam, is another paved trail to enjoy. The same rules apply to this one, too, except the parking for this trailhead allows room for equestrian trailers! That’s right, here’s an easier spot to take your horses out for a walk, too. The tree-covered trail features two overlooks and a switchback (or “S-Curve” hill) — and lots of shade. This project also includes improvements to the Walter Hill Park trailhead, a new combined equestrian and multi-use parking facility at Coleman Farm, and a combined trail system of three miles of new trails, approximately two miles paved and one mile natural surface.
