Nashville Public Library's (NPL) Wishing Chair Productions has a long, rich history of creating and performing imaginative marionette shows for children — both in the main library branch's Children's Theatre and with its mobile Puppet Truck program that brings puppet shows to a variety of locations throughout the year.
Wishing Chair created a marionette show last fall — Lorraine — that's hitting the road in February to visit 14 different NPL branches across Nashville. The 30-minute production is set in the Tennessee hills, introducing children to Lorraine and her Pa Paw who love to play music and sing songs. When a giant storm rolls in and their instruments are nowhere to be found, Lorraine is put to the test to find the music inside herself to get though the fearsome thunder and rain.
