All October long it’s ODDtober at the Tennessee Aquarium, located in Chattanooga (two-and-a-half hours east of Nashville plus a one-hour time change). Special programming at the Aquarium includes strange creature adaptations. From superworms to sea stars to alligator snapping turtles and more, kids can enjoy special programs all month long for spooky season. And aside from the strange creature programming, there’s more:
ODDtober at the Tennessee Aquarium: Underwater Pumpkin Carving
Back for 2024, watch volunteer Scuba divers carve up jack-o-lanterns underwater as fish and turtles swim past. It happens on Saturdays at 2 p.m. in the River Journey building.

Aquascarium
This one-day event (Friday, October 25), is a costume-wearing day and a celebration of scaly, spooky fun plus trick-or-treating. Enjoy themed decorations, costumed divers, music, candy and more. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Happening from 4 – 8 p.m. tickets are $38 for non-members and ages 5 and younger are free. Reserve your tickets here.
Fall Fun at IMAX
Since the Aquarium and IMAX are right next to each other, be sure to take advantage of that when you visit. The features currently playing at the IMAX are “T. REx 3D,” “Animal Kingdom 3D” and “Blue Whales: Return of the Giants 3D.”
