Take a trip to Neverland next month and set sail for a world of adventure with the new production of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell: A Pirate’s Christmas. TPAC and Lythgoe Family Panto present this holiday musical Dec. 13 – 23 at TPAC’s Polk Theater.
Lythgoe presents the swashbuckling adventure in the style of a British holiday panto. What’s that, you ask? Panto is a fairy tale complete with songs, dances, jokes, exaggerated characters and lots of audience participation. Panto is an engaging way to entertain children, encouraging them to cheer and enlisting their help to support the good characters in the show.
THE STORY & CAST
Captain Hook’s pirates plan to capture Peter Pan as a Christmas present to him. Peter, Tinker Bell, Wendy, Michael and John set out to put a stop to the plot. Kids are sure to enjoy the magic of theatrical flight as characters defy gravity over the stage.
This production includes local flavor with familiar regional references, and it should be good for a laugh when the pirates make their stage entrance on a pedal tavern. The show also features familiar music ranging from the Bee Gees to Taylor Swift.
The cast comprises familiar names along with local kids. Seinfeld’s John O’Hurley stars as Captain Hook and the Disney Channel’s Garrett Clayton plays Peter. American Idol alum Diana DeGarmo is Tinker Bell and teen country singer Tegan Marie plays Wendy. Four local boys take on the roles of Wendy’s brothers. Jackson Nolan (11) and Andrew Hansen (12) share the role of John; Alan Harrisohn Foeder (11) and Lucas Shane (9) split the duty of portraying Michael.
