Once we get a break in the weather, it may be time to dig into the earth.
With plenty of time to spare, many families may be thinking about starting their own garden. The Rutherford County Farmer's Market has full archive of gardening videos available on YouTube to assist you as you make your way in addition to educational handouts available on the University of Tennessee agricultural website. Some of the help you can find in the handouts includes:
• Tennessee Vegetable Planting GUide
• Organic Gardening
• Southern Gourmet Cooking
• Uncommon Vegetable Garden
• Cooking with Kids
and many more. On YouTube, find videos including:
• Grow Your Vegetables in Containers
• Ground Cover for the Home Gardener
• Selecting Bulbs and Other Perennials
• Raised Bed Gardens
and many more. Currently, the in-person mini-classes offered every Tuesday and Friday are suspended.
Mark your calendars for Friday, May 8 for Opening Day of the Rutherford County Farmer's Market, where free educational classes will take place every day at 9 a.m. The Farmer's Market will be held Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. through October 30.
