Exuberant squeals of delight erupted from children all across Jackson Hall on opening night of Blue Man Group. The hefty crowd included lots of kids (as young as preschoolers), and Blue Man Group continues to deliver a phenomenal, multi-sensory experience you will never forget.

The cobalt trio provides an eye-popping show, full of high-energy percussion-driven music and dazzling visual effects. The set design is a captivating hybrid of industrial structures with a mind-boggling amount of technology woven into it, including LED light contraptions, video screens, speakers and musical instruments completing the look and feel.

This particular tour falls more heavily on the music factor than previous productions. You'll enjoy heavy percussive sounds throughout the 90-minute show (there's no intermission, so if you're bringing the kids, hit the restroom before the show, because you won't want to miss a second of it!). An energetic drummer and guitarist back the three Blue Men for some amazing, fist-pumping house music. Whether this is your first Blue Man Group experience or you're a returning fan, prepare to be blown away by the musicality of the trio as they make music on a variety of unique instruments, mostly comprising PVC plumbing pipes constructed in a way to create an out-of-this-world sonic sensation.

While the Blue Men don't speak verbally, these other-worldly beings are skillful in bringing the audience into their telepathic communication, which is full of humor. Little kids quickly pick up on the exaggerated gestures, and it's a bundle of fun for the entire audience. There's a good dose of audience participation when the Blue Men hop off the stage and explore the orchestra level for participants — they'll either prompt you to record a sound to be mixed into the show (one of them got me to fiercely "Meow" with a comic result) or you might get pulled out of your seat and escorted to the stage for some hilarious antics (hint: if you do wind up onstage, be ready to think fast on your feet).

The enthralling performance explores optic science and technology filled with fun tricks and hijinks. Huge on the WOW factor, your entire family will enjoy the larger-than-life party atmosphere throughout the production, especially toward the end of the show when the energy ramps up even more during the signature Blue Man Group segment when the guys drum on barrels with glowing fluorescent paint splashing high into the air. It's one of the most mesmerizing visual effects of all time.

Blue Man Group certainly provides an inspirational entertainment experience like no other. You and your kids can count on a memorable night that will find you leaving in sheer awe.
