Parents, what if I told you that you can take your family on a Pigeon Forge vacation without ever stepping outside where you’re staying?
That’s right, no more driving in traffic for 20 minutes to a pancake house that’s two miles away. Look no further than Country Cascades Waterpark Resort, located right on the main strip in Pigeon Forge (about a three-and-a-half hour drive from Nashville and only about 20 minutes from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park).
Even with everything around it — fudge shops, mountain coasters, Dollywood and seemingly endless go-kart places — all of this resort’s family-friendly amenities make it extremely tempting for a family to never get back in the car until the ride home.
The resort has an indoor and outdoor waterpark, multiple restaurants, a candy shop, coffee shop and lots of activities for the family right on-site.
Pigeon Forge’s Only Indoor Waterpark
Country Cascades is home to Pigeon Forge’s only indoor waterpark, which opened in November of 2024, called Braxton Beaver’s Shipwreck Bay.
Perfect for extremely hot summer days, it includes a four-story waterslide, dueling mat waterslides, a large soaking tub, a pool with basketball hoops, a zero-entry splash pad, several smaller waterslides and cabanas you can rent.
Plus, it’s open until 11 p.m., which makes it a great way to get out any energy the kids may have left come nightfall.
Tired of Splashing Indoors? Take it Outside!
After families conquer the indoor waterpark, they can head across the resort to the seasonal Cascades Outdoor Waterpark, open now through the fall. It includes two four-story drop slides, two kids slides, a giant dumping bucket, multiple water features, a zero-entry pool, sun loungers and private poolside cabanas.
Note: The waterparks do not sell day passes and are only for guests of the resort.
So. Many Activities.
One of the first things you’ll notice after checking in is the number of things available to do as a family.
Some of the activities include creating a stuffed animal in their “build-a-buddy” workshop or cookie decorating in the candy shop. These activities have an extra fee, but most other activities — like family trivia, bingo and even a night dance party — are totally free.
The resort also features a big arcade, a virtual reality arena, duckpin bowling, a rock climbing wall and gem mining.
How About the Rooms?
Country Cascades’ cabin and treehouse suites are wonderful for families with lots of thoughtful touches. My family stayed in one of the cabin suites, (sleeps a total of six). It includes a king bed and four bunk beds in their own little forrest-themed room complete with a flat screen TV, personal light and electrical outlets next to each bed.
They also have these adorable scavenger hunts within the room, too.
In-House Dining
For dining options at the resort, families can wake up to coffee and pastries at Refuel, then grab breakfast at Granny Cluckets. There’s also The Snack Shack serving up food at the waterpark, pizza at Nonnaroni’s and homemade desserts at Candi’s Candy Kitchen.
