A world of whimsy is center stage with NCT’s delightful production of The Snowy Day & Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats.

Directed by Alicia Lark Fuss, this theatrical adventure comprises four of Keats’ children’s stories — the groundbreaking Caldecott-winning The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie, Goggles!, and A Letter to Amy.

IGNITING IMAGINATION

Elvie Williams, DeYonte Jenkins and Tamiko Robinson Steele share the stage in multiple roles in each of the Keats tales featuring a black hero. Geared toward toddlers and preschoolers, the show engages young minds and imaginations. It’s a playful, hour-long experience, and the four distinct stories are great for little attention spans.

Young audience members can enjoy the wonders of playing in the snow, the excitement of learning to whistle, the anticipation of an upcoming birthday party and the magic of imagination when a special pair of goggles takes the characters from under the sea to outer space.

Each of the actors do a fantastic job of making their characters relatable to youngsters. Furthermore, the incorporation of awesome shadow puppets greatly enhances the entire experience. The puppetry adds a bevy of child-like charm sprinkled throughout the performance. Scott Leathers’ set design and lighting coupled with Colin Peterson’s mesmerizing snowflake projections create the perfect ambiance for kids running through a world making discoveries.

The Snowy Day & Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats is a perfect family outing for all ages.
