Rail exploration is for all ages; children must be accompanied by a rider at least 16 years old who can operate the brakes. Infants must be secured in a chest harness to an adult rider; little children can be safely buckled up to enjoy the ride.
The Central Kentucky tour is a 10-mile round trip on either the Quad Railbike (up to four riders) or the Tandem Railbike (for two). After a five-mile ride west from the Bluegrass Scenic Railroad Museum, riders spend a half hour enjoying the Kentucky River view from about 100 ft. up. During this time, guides use hydraulic lifts to turn the railbikes around for the return trip. In total, it’s about a two-hour experience.
