All-things “Man of Steel” are front and center in Metropolis, Ill. during the 38th Annual Superman Celebration taking place June 9 – 12.
Located 148 miles northwest on I-24 (a roughly two-and-a-half hour drive), it’s the town’s biggest event that heralds lots of hoopla for all superheroes. Kids have fun meeting Superman himself, and there are other celebrity meet and greets with stars from Superman movies and TV shows.
Other fun includes participating in the Heroes & Villains costume contest; Artist Alley with top comic writers and illustrators; live music and entertainment on the main stage; carnival rides and games; children’s activities in the Smallville tent; Q & A panels with celebrities and artists; and there’s also the Ninth Annual Superman Film Festival (June 9 – 10 only) featuring 33 film shorts.
Festival admission is free, but some activities like celebrity autograph sessions require paid tickets (fees and tickets available at the website).
