Rutherford to Re-Open Traditionally

The decision has been made to return Rutherford's 49K students to the traditional classroom next month beginning the week of August 10.

It will be a first day of school for the record books. Beginning the week of August 10, Rutherford Cunty Schools (RCS) will begin returning students to their schools, after a committee of the Board of Education overwhelmingly recommended it. Exactly how students will be phased in that week is th subject of a special-called board meeting on Tuesday, July 21. The board will review how to help students adjust to new health guidelines, personnel adjustments and more.
RCS asked parents for their opinons regarding the reopening of schools this fall. More than 59% responded that they would send their kids back to school; 6% said they would not. For those who will not be returning, distance learning will be in place. Parents were able to site their preferences for traditional in-person school; a hybrid of both on-campus and distance-learning; or distance-learning only.
Of course, should COVID-19 numbers increase, the plan will be revisited.
