Saint Thomas Rutherford One-Day Childbirth Classes

Busy expectant parents can learn a lot all in one day through a class offered in Murfreesboro.

If you're on the go, expecting, and fretting about how to fit a childbirth class in, Murfreesboro's Saint Thomas Rutherford has a solution for you: an all-in-one day childbirthing class. The hospital — recipient of Best for Babies 2019 from the Tennessee Department of Health — intends for the class to prepare expectant parents for what to expect at Saint Thomas.
Recommended for pregnant couples in the 28th – 36th week of pregnancy, it's a full day of immersion into childbirth including topics like the anatomy and discomforts of pregnancy; pre-labor signs; onset and stages of labor; pain management; interventions that may come up in labor; cesarean section; postpartum care; newborn appearance and procedures; and newborn care. Couples who plan to have an unmedicated childbirth are encouraged to attend a class that provides an additional focus on natural labor pain management such as Lamaze or Hypnobirthing.

There are three one-day classes currently scheduled:

    • Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    • Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    • Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The cost is $90 per couples and you can register here. Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is located at 1700 Medical Center Pkwy. In Murfreesboro.
