Cheers! Come support The Discovery Center in Murfreesboro on May 3rd with this 21 and up event.

The Discovery Center announced the return of its annual fundraiser, Shakesbeer, set to take place on Friday, May 3 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Sponsored by CED Murfreesboro, the ages 21 and up event will be held outside the Discovery Center along the Murfree Spring Wetlands and feature Shakespearean performances and local craft beer. All proceeds support the Discovery Center’s mission to provide essential adventures for every child’s journey through interactive programming and exhibits.

“Shakesbeer offers a wonderful celebration of the rich literary tradition of Shakespeare and the vibrant craft beer scene in Murfreesboro,” said Tara MacDougall, President and CEO of the Discovery Center. “We’re grateful to CED Murfreesboro for helping us continue to host Shakesbeer and their support in advancing our mission of providing enriching experiences for children through interactive programming and exhibits.”

With performances by the Murfreesboro Little Theater, attendees will have the opportunity to sample beers from local breweries, including Lazy Sunday, Mid-State Brewsters, Fat Finger, Dark Shadow, Dark Humor, Mos Alesley, Vitruvian, Back Bone BrewWorks, Middle Ground Brewing Co., New Heights, Emerald Abbey, Adkisson Brewing and Prohibition, which will also be featuring its CigaRV, a mobile cigar lounge. Food will be available for purchase from Wise Girls food truck.

Tickets for Shakesbeer are $45 in advance and $50 on the day of the event, with designated driver tickets available for $15. All proceeds from the fundraiser will directly benefit the Discovery Center’s efforts to provide engaging and educational experiences for children in the community. The museum will be closing at 1 p.m. the day of the event.
