The Discovery Center announced the return of its annual fundraiser, Shakesbeer, set to take place on Friday, May 2 from 6;30 to 8:30 p.m.
The event offers an evening of Shakespeare-themed entertainment, featuring local craft brewers, food trucks, and theatrical performances by Murfreesboro Little Theatre. Shakesbeer is for those 21 years of age and above.
This year’s lineup of featured brewers includes Smackdab Brewing, Vitruvian Artisan Ales, Mos Alesley Brewing, Adkisson Brewing, the MTSU Fermentation Science Program, Cedar Glade Brews, Thompson’s Brood, Abbey of the Emerald Rose, Middle Ground Brewing Company, FatFinger Brewing, New Heights Brewing Company, and Mid-State Brewsters. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse selection of fare from local food trucks, including Buns on the Run, serving hot dogs, sausages, burgers, and vegetarian and gluten-free options, and Heart of TX Tacos, offering authentic Tex-Mex cuisine.
“Shakesbeer is more than just a fun event—it’s an annual celebration of creativity, community, and learning,” said Tara MacDougall, President and CEO of the Discovery Center. “The funds raised help fuel our mission to provide hands-on educational experiences for children across Murfreesboro and beyond, ensuring that learning remains accessible and engaging for all.”
Tickets for Shakesbeer are $40 in advance, with designated driver tickets available for $15. All proceeds from the fundraiser will directly benefit the Discovery Center’s efforts to provide engaging and educational experiences for children in the community. The museum will be closing at 1 p.m. the day of the event.
