There’s still time to get fresh fruits and veggies in Smyrna! Saturday, Sept. 16 is the last day for the Smyrna Depot Farmers Market. It’s open from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Find lots of fresh peppers, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, onions, squash, green beans, all sorts of tomatoes and more! You can’t forget the homemade jams, too. They make a great add-on to your toast in the mornings. You’ll enjoy the cool weather while you stroll the booths, too. You can also shop local arts and crafts booths as well as help local fundraisers.
Also at the Farmers Market, Girl Scout Troop 1023 holds another Hurricane Harvey Happiness Drive (see flyer below) in hopes of collecting new small toys, books and blanket for the kids affected by the devastation caused by the hurricane. This is the troop’s first service project. They’re learning a lot about how the community comes together to help those in need. So, if you can make a small toy donation, please do so when you come to shop for your yummy local veggies.
The Smyrna Depot Farmers Market takes place at the Historic Depot District on Front Street in downtown Smyrna. Call 615-984-4038 or visit them on Facebook.
