A visit to a park playground should be fun, but that’s not always the case if your child has any sort of disability. The Smyrna Rotary Club aims to change that. Soon, Smyrna’s Lee Victory Park (110 Sam Ridley Pkwy. E.), will feature the city's first all-inclusive playground in. All ages and abilities can play together with ease. Also, the park will feature ADA-compliant restrooms and more accommodating tricycles and wheelchairs.
Expect to see a color scheme and layout that mimics the nearby Captain Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial. Beth Hackett, president of Smyrna Rotary, says she's excited about this project. She adds that this effort allows the Club to assist families with special needs.
As it sits now, Lee Victory Park consists of:
- Basketball Courts with Lights
- 2 Football Fields with Lights
- 2 Full-Service Concessions
- 2 Playgrounds
- 4 Picnic Pavilions (reservations required)
- 4 Softball Fields with Lights
- 6 Tennis Courts with Lights
- Greenway Trail, 1.25 mile
- Horseshoe Pits
- Restrooms
- Volleyball Court with Lights
Smyrna Rotary Club aims to have the $600,000 project built within a year. Keep up with the progress at facebook.com/SmyrnaRotaryClub.
