Star Bright Auditions for “Matilda”

Roald Dahl's beloved musical about the power of imagination in childhood and the courage required to persevere through hardships will be presented by the Star Bright Players in May, 2020.

Williamson County's Star Bright Players will hold auditions for Matilda, the clever and mischievious Roald Dahl story-turned-Broadway-show early in February, so kids should start preparing now! Young actors ages 7 and older will be auditioned at Freedom Middle School, 750 Highway 96W on Sunday, February 9 from 1 – 5 p.m. Auditioners can come any time during that window. NO REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO AUDITION. Audition FAQs can be found here.

Young actors should prepare a Broadway-standard song and be ready to sing without accompaniement. Kids are also asked to wear comfortable clothing they can move in. An activity fee of $100 will be charged for each participating young actor (must be paid by March 9).

Rehearsals for Matilda begin February 18 at the school and will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 though not all cast members will be called for every rehearsal. Performances take place May 7 – 9.

Starbright also seeks a youth tech crew for work on scenery, costumes, stage management, lighting, sound and props. Interested tech-crew kids should fill out an application here and email it to meganhardgrave@gmail.com by Feb. 9.
