Tennessee Youth Symphony Auditions

High school musicians can be a part of a full orchestra and enjoy several performance opportunities.

Oh, the joy of making music! High school musicians across the mid-state have an opportunity to become a part of the Tennessee Youth Symphony (TYS) with two audition dates this month.

ABOUT THE TENNESSEE YOUTH SYMPHONY

TYS is a full orchestra consisting of strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion and harp. The orchestra is designed for musically talented and highly motivated high school students who have interest in performing a variety of repertoire including classical, contemporary, jazz and multicultural.

Part of the orchestra members' education throughout the series includes master classes and sectionals led by members of the Nashville Symphony, university professors, recording musicians and other educators.

During the season, the TYS presents fall, holiday and spring concerts. In addition, TYS performs at several community events, including the Nashville Symphony's Free Day of Music at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. There are recording opportunities, too. TYS musicians have recorded at Historic RCA Studio A as well as Ocean Way Studios.
