Your family can really work up a good appetite on Thursday by starting your holiday with one of two Thanksgiving trots in Nashville that both support great causes:

Choose a four- or eight-mile course and run to raise money for Nashville Rescue Mission during this fifth annual Thanksgiving day race. This five-mile race down Belle Meade Boulevard raises money for 38 local organizations serving the homeless population. A few of the beneficiaries include Safe Haven Family Shelter, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, The Next Door, Renewal House, St. Luke’s Community House and The Nashville Food Project. The Boulevard Bolt starts at 8 a.m., and you’ll check in and start at The Temple, located at 5015 Harding Pike, Nashville. Registration in advance is $45; race day on Thanksgiving is $65.
