Theater Bug Summer Workshop for Kids

Registration opens Friday, May 10 for a new workshop with one of Nashville's leading youth theater programs.

Kids with an interest in performing can get their feet wet with The Theater Bug's "Songs of the Bug" Workshop. It's for ages 6 – 17 and takes place June 3 – 7 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day.

The workshop provides an opportunity for beginners to try out The Theater Bug program while gaining confidence in a group setting. Youth with advanced performing skills can sharpen their growing talent.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Theater Bug instructors Cori Anne Laemmel, Bakari King and Laura Matula lead the workshop. Kids will spend the week learning musical numbers from past Theater Bug productions, including If I Were You, 7 Ways to Sunday, Showmance!, The Most Amazing Anything of Evertime: Musical Edition, Selfie the Musical and others.

In addition, the workshop features skill-building games and social time with peers. The week concludes with a showcase in which kids will perform group songs and duets; advanced performers will have solo opportunities in the spotlight. The showcase, free to the public, takes place Friday, June 7 at 5 p.m.
