Have you ever wondered what the staff does to care for the animals at Nashville Zoo? Aspiring young veterinarians can see what’s going on at the new HCA Healthcare Veterinary Center — the ribbon cutting and grand opening takes place Saturday, Feb. 23 at 9:30 a.m.
THE NEW HCA HEALTHCARE VETERINARY CENTER
The new 20,000-square-foot medical facility includes areas for observation, diagnosis, radiology, surgery, laboratory, pharmacy and administrative functions. The center will also serve as a teaching center for college students. In addition, zoo guests can stop by a viewing gallery to observe surgeries and treatment procedures as well as a nursery.
STICK AROUND FOR THE TEDDY BEAR CLINIC FOR KIDS
Following the ribbon cutting, kids 10 and younger can participate in the annual Teddy Bear Clinic from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Kids can bring their favorite teddy bear or other stuffed animal for routine checkups by the zoo's veterinary staff. In addition, kids can enjoy a variety of other activities. The Teddy Bear Clinic is free with zoo admission.
Nashville Zoo is located at 3777 Nolensville Pike, Nashville. Weekday admission is $17 adults, $12 ages 2 – 12, free ages 1 and younger (add $1 to all rates Fridays and Sundays; add $2 on Saturdays).
