The Theater Bug’s “Stories” to Take the Stage

Take a look into the inner worlds of five young people when "Stories" debuts as a new, original musical this month.

Hold onto your hearts — and your hashtags — “Stories” is back and bolder than ever. After debuting as a web series in 2021, this original musical now jumps to the stage with 18 songs and themes that speak to growing up today.

“Stories” cover real experiences of identity, mental health, racism, and more. It takes you into the inner worlds of five young people navigating life off and online. Created by The Theater Bug‘s Artistic Director Cori Anne Laemmel (along with Megan Murphy Chambers, Pascia Weeden), the show is bursting with hometown talent.

“Stories” Features:

  • a cast of 35 young performers
  • music by Cori & Tyson Laemmel; arrangements by Laura & Tony Matula
  • choreography by Bakari King
  • multimedia by MA2LA
  • direction by Cori Anne Laemmel & Bakari King
  • mature themes and language in addition to a child’s death (the show is recommended for older kids, teens, tweens)

Details:

Show dates are Sat., July 26 at 7 p.m.; Sun., July 27 at 5 p.m.; Wed. – Sat., July 31 – Aug. 2 at 7 p.m.; and Sun., Aug. 3 at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for kids younger than 12. Some subsidized tickets are available (limit two per family) — email auditions@thetheaterbug.org.

Performances are at Nashville School of the Arts‘ Roxy Theater, 1250 Foster Avenue, Nashville.
