On our most recent adventure, the Twin Men and I had the opportunity to visit Climb Murfreesboro. We had been especially excited to visit, since we live in Rutherford County and have seen the building progress take place over the last few months.
Safety First!
Once we arrived, we were promptly met by several employees and started the check-in process. First thing in the check-in process is to fill out a waiver. You have the option to fill out a waiver online before your visit or you can use the waiver stations that are located in the front of the building. Parents and children have to complete the waiver process before you can check-in.
The Twin Men were then provided a safety harness and climbing shoes. It’s not required to rent the climbing shoes as long as you are wearing tennis shoes, but the climbing shoes make it a bit easier for you to get your grip. The employees then showed us how to safely secure the carabiner to the harness and instructed how the automatic belay system worked.
Kids' Course
All of the climbing courses in the kids' climbing area are outfitted with the automatic belay, meaning that the children are able to repel back down safely on their own. There are also several automatic belay courses in the larger climbing area.
The kids' climbing area is incredibly interactive from courses that require you to hit a button to “put out” a fire to one that you push buttons to illuminate faces as you climb. There is a giant tree to climb and also a “cityscape.” In all there are around 15 or more courses in the children’s area to climb and it definitely wore out the Twin Men. They didn’t forget about the parents either, there is plenty of comfortable seating around the kid’s climbing area for rest breaks.
More to Climb & Do
Riley was even brave enough to venture to the big walls to climb, which he did pretty successfully! Climb Murfreesboro isn’t just a rock-climbing gym, they also offer a bouldering area, workout area with various classes and even a yoga studio.
They offer youth programs for ages 7 – 19 that range from a recreation climbing team to an Elite team that practice weekly and compete. You can even host a birthday party, group event or a lock-in at Climb Murfreesboro.
Climb Murfreesboro also offers a Student Night on Fridays from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. which cost $12 and up. Individual monthly memberships start at $60 for students and Family Memberships are also available. There are also two Climb Nashville locations and a brand-new location opening in Arkansas. You can find additional information on pricing and extras on their website.
