For more thatn 100 years, the Hancock family has been working their farm. Located in Springfield, TN, Hancock Family Farm truly is a family affair specializing in growing the freshest fruits and vegetables.
"Matthew and Jodi Hancock live on Hancock Family Farm with their four children," their website states. "Farming has been a lifelong passion of Matthew’s, as he was born and raised on the land that he now farms and raises his children."
Matthew Hancock's first taste of farming was growing corn and selling it out of his truck as a teenager. Needless to say, they still grow corn, along with sweet potatoes, potatoes, Lee’s candy onions (named after their son and his love for onions), potatoes, turnips, kale, tomatoes, green beans, turnip greens, mustard greens and October beans. Farming is a family affair for the Hancock crew; the three Hancock girls started an egg business and the boy is very involved in harvesting.
The family farm also yields fruits, including strawberries, blackberries, peaches, apples, plums and pears. In addition, their market is stocked with a variety of items including Sister Hens eggs raised on their farm, local honey (from bees on their farm), fresh coffee, Elderberry syrup, milk and more.
You can pick up all of these items at multiple locations throught the week this summer, including Monday – Saturday at their farm from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., daily at Nashville Farmers Market from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or Saturdays at Robertson County Farmers Market from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
