We’ve missed you, fang fingers.
The Nashville Predators are set to open their 2020-21 NHL season against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 14. The Preds will be on the Bridgestone Arena ice for the first time since Aug. 7, 2020 (a span of exactly 160 days).
The opening match marks the first of 56 games on the regular-season schedule for Nashville in this abbreviated campaign being played amidst the ongoing pandemic. But, with protocols in place, and a burning desire from players and fans alike to get back to the game they love, the puck will drop once more, and the motivation couldn’t be greater.
A lot has changed — some good, some not so good.
For starters, Pekka Rinne’s a proud new father! Other significant changes include all of Nashville’s 2021 games coming against opponents in their division and the Preds’ season is starting without fans in attendance.. The team says it hopes to welcome fans later this season.
Tonight’s contest (click here for a virtual program) will be the first of eight between the two Central Division foes this season, with Columbus also scheduled to play at Bridgestone Arena again this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 16. Nashville’s 21-player opening night roster consists of 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders. See the complete roster here.
Next week on Jan. 18 and 19, the Preds hit the ice against the Carolina Hurricanes. After that on Jan. 26 and 27, they face of against the Chicago Blackhawks for their last home games in January. Check below for the Nashville Predators’ full home schedule.
