The American Red Cross in Middle Tennessee needs blood donations amid the coronavirus fight. The need for blood for trauma patients, children's battling cancer, mothers experiencing childbirth complications, patients with sickle cell disease and others continues.
Blood donations has a limited shelf life of 42 days for red cells and only five days for platelets, so a constant supply is necessary.
You can donate blood from May 1 – 15 at various locations in Sumner County. You must make an appointment to donate blood by downloading the free RED CROSS BLOOD DONOR APP, visiting REDCROSSBLOOD.ORG, calling 800-733-2767 or by enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
Donors must wear a face mask while at the blood drive. Each center follows the highest standards of safety and infection control, including social distancing and face coverings.
