Spring Art After School at MACC

Kids can explore their creative minds through a variety of art classes starting this month at Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center in Hendersonville.

Students ages 6 and older in Sumner County can add a splash of art to their week with the new lineup of Art After School classes at Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) in Hendersonville.

ART AFTER SCHOOL OFFERINGS

ARTastic! For Younger Kids
Tuesdays, Jan. 21 – May 19 from 4 – 5:30 p.m.
Ages 6 – 8
$290 + $50 supply fee

Children will use markers, colored pencils, charcoal, oil and chalk pastels. They’ll also paint on canvas using acrylics and watercolors. They will create masterpieces of animals, nature, sea life, landscapes, architecture, fantasy, people and more. They will also learn the Monart drawing method.

Draw, Paint, Sculpt!
Tuesdays, Jan. 21 – May 19 from 4:30 – 6 p.m.
Ages 6 – 10
$290 + $50 supply fee

Students will explore different mediums including painting, printmaking, drawing and sculpture.

Young Masters
Tuesdays, Jan. 21 – May 19 from 4:30 – 6 p.m.

Also Wednesdays, Jan. 22 – May 20 from 4:30 – 6 p.m. ($306 + $50 supply fee)
Also Thursdays, Jan. 23 – May 21 from 4:30 – 6 p.m. ($306 + $50 supply fee)
Ages 10+

Students will explore different art mediums while learning art historical styles and movements along with the influential artists who helped create them.

Digital Art
Mondays, Jan. 27 – May 18 from 4 – 5:30 p.m.
Ages 12+
$270 + $50 supply fee

Learn how to transfer, alter and refine artwork that you have done on paper and turn it into a digital work of art. Learn how to draw directly on a tablet and paint using the in-class app Procreate, the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. This class teaches students the universal language of digitizing art, and the translatable terms and concepts necessary to understand whether you are working on a PC, MACBOOK, or Wacom drawing table. Tablets and digital drawing pens are provided. Students are able to bring their own preferred device.

Draw Your Heart Out!
Mondays, Jan. 27 – May 18 from 4:30 – 6 p.m.
Ages 12+
$270 + $50 supply fee

Learn the basics of drawing through guided lessons related to line, shape, texture, form, value, and space.  Special emphasis will be on shading techniques as well as composition.  A variety of drawing techniques and mediums will be utilized such as graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, and pastel.

Sculpture Mania
Mondays, Jan. 27 – May 18 from 4:30 – 6 p.m.
Ages 6 – 10
$270 + $50 supply fee

Play with clay and build miniature characters, animals and more while learning techniques to add fun textures and paint. Other projects include pinch pots, coil jars with lids and painted keepsake tiles using oven bake and air dry clay.

Anime
Tuesdays, Jan. 28 – May 19 from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Ages 10+
$270 + $50 supply fee

Learn the techniques of professional anime illustration such as shading, perspective, figure drawing and proportion while using the highest quality markers, pens and inks. Students will also learn about character development, and they will receive instruction in how to plan out their compositions using elements and principles of design.
