Hundreds of walkers are expected to take over First Horizon Park in Nashville for the annual March for Babies walk on April 13. The event’s theme, “A Mother of a Movement,” will help to raise awareness of maternal and infant health. Hosted by the March of Dimes, in-person registration starts at 8 a.m. A Superhero Spring around the bases for ages 1 – 10 starts at 9:30 a.m. and the march — with laps around the stadium’s concourse and field begins at 10.
March for Babies 2024
The March of Dimes uses research, advocacy and education to give every baby born the best possible start. Tennessee lags behind much of the nation when it comes to infant and maternal mortality. The group gave Tennessee a “D” rating last year showing how high the preterm birth rate is for infants. Preterm birth is one of the leading causes of infant deaths in the U.S. and Tennessee’s preterm rate is at 11 percent. The nation’s overall percentage is at about 10.4 percent. Tennessee is among 15 other states with a D rating.
March for Babies can help to make a visible difference that uniting, connecting and honoring can help to improve Tennessee’s rating.
First Horizon Park (where the Nashville Sounds play baseball) is located at 19 Junior Gilliam Way. Sign up for the event by clicking here.
