Have you ever seen Scottish Highland Cattle? You can at Mill Creek Farms.
The “gentle giants” of Scotland are the oldest registered breed of cattle in the world. They have distinctive horns and long, wavy woolly coats ranging in colors of red, ginger, black, yellow, white, brindle and more. First bred to withstand the windy Scottish Highlands, they have a reputation for being docile animals. And you don’t have to visit Scotland to see them …
Mill Creek Farms, located approximately an hour-and-a-half from Nashville offers Scottish Highland cow visits where you can brush, feed and take photos with them. Additionally, farm tours and special events draw visitors daily — by appointment only.
About Mill Creek Farms
Mill Creek Farms is owned and operated by the Jones family. Brian Jones grew up on an Angus farm. Married to Bridgett Jones, in 2021 the couple began adding Scottish Highland cattle to their farm to raise them and preserve their heritage. The family’s cows are interacted with daily and are primarily for breeding stock and pets.
Educational farm visits and field trips are ongoing. Yes, it sounds oh-so-Scottish, but you’ll have to be patient: tours and events book quickly. Grab spots for May, June and beyond ASAP!
